Following the events at Pretoria Girls High, the politics of natural black hair sparked an interesting conversation amongst South Africans.
What most people agreed on is that hair is an extension of your personality, culture, tradition and heritage.
Since, BET Africa is all about celebrating ones essence, we sought out to show our support by creating a campaign that celebrates all kinds of black hairstyles.
BET presents: #HairitageDay. A platform to inspire and encouraged people to express their heritage through their hair during Heritage Day.
We created animated videos that debunked stereotypes about hair and fused them with poetry about how proud you ought to be about your Hairitage.
We achieved 4x the engagement rate of videos on Facebook with 17%.
We achieved 2x the engagement rate of videos on Twitter with 23%.
We achieved 4x the engagement rate of posts on Facebook with 8%.
We achieved 3x the engagement rate of posts on Twitter with 9%.
